With the cost of everything headed up, I decided to look over my finances and see where I might make some cutbacks. Two things stuck out that will make a little bit of difference in my monthly budget.
- I cancelled my subscription to Sirius Satellite Radio … I’ve got an iPOD for the gym and car, and I can stream music on the Internet for free. The cost for Sirius isn’t all that much ($14 a month), but there are free options out there.
- I changed my Road Runner account … I went from the regular service ($50 a month) to the Road Runner “Lite” service ($30 a month).
I also got a mailer for DirectTV that has me eyeing a switch.
But in the meantime. the total monthly savings on these two items = $34 a month. Not a heck of a lot, but it all adds up. HDTV, here I come!

This blog asks a simple question: "What are you saving for?" Its goal is to help people set savings goals, develop a disciplined and/or systematic savings habit, and build a corresponding community of like-minded people as a support network. By laughing, crying, and discussing how we each approach this topic together, we should find it much easier to save together. So what are you saving for?
Hello HDTV Guy…*You have the right idea…cutting out stuff thats a luxury and not a need. …ofcourse, we have to have a little fun to keep our sanity…for example… I dont need a banana split…that cost 4 bucks…but maybe I do need a $1 Sundae from MCDonalds to cool off on a hot day.
Keep on Saving…Good luck. . dgl
