The response to WAYSF out of the gate has been nothing short of phenomenal! With a bevy of new posts and comments being submitted every day, this site is truly turning into the community that we had envisioned.
This is whatareyousavingfor.com’s inaugural “Featured Post,” which highlights the WAYSFer who posted the most intriguing, touching, or creative message during the previous few weeks. My Father-in law can barely walk anymore. He has to walk down to the bus to meet our children every day after school. Medicare turned him down for a scooter. His doctor won’t put in for one. The V.A. says they can’t get him one. We don’t have the money for one. His insurance refuses to pay for one. We have been trying to get one for two years. Trying to GET a scooter for him is harder to deal with than anything else.
How refreshing! Not only is JohnnyMac working to become a better saver, he’s doing it as a selfless act to help his ailing Father-in-Law. His goal is to save for a Medical Scooter over the next 12 months. The total cost will be around $2,200.00. This will require $181.49 per month to reach the goal within the specified time period. What a great savings goal! Now let’s see what we can do to help you meet it!

This blog asks a simple question: "What are you saving for?" Its goal is to help people set savings goals, develop a disciplined and/or systematic savings habit, and build a corresponding community of like-minded people as a support network. By laughing, crying, and discussing how we each approach this topic together, we should find it much easier to save together. So what are you saving for?
I think it is terrible that there is no help for your father-in law through any of the venues you mentioned. At least you have MCU here giving you support to reach your goal to acquire the money you need to buy the scooter. You sound like a great guy and I wish you success!
