I was talking with a friend of mine and we got on the subject of Banking. He was telling me that he has a account at a local bank and has a estimated $30 a month in fees. I asked him what that local bank does so good that he wants to pay $30 a month to them. He said come to think about it really nothing, it isn’t the personal relations, it isn’t the 20 minutes line to cash a check, and it isn’t the $5 that they charge someone that comes in with a personal check from YOU. Well with me working at Members Credit Union I had to explain the difference between a Bank and a Credit Union. I went on to tell him about the no fee accounts we have, the personal relations that you develop with your banker and the service that you will get.. CU’s are just like banks, but CU’s are there to serve the community and are Not-For-Profit. Meaning CU’s are able to pay better interest on their accounts, have better loan rates and at the same time, offer the exact same products if not more as a bank.
So I asked him if he was convinced to switch over to the Credit Union. And the response I got was “I have been with my local bank for so long, I hate change and I just don’t think I want to switch. I then asked him if he could write me a check for $30 every month for being his friend because he is paying for a service he can get for free through a Credit Union

This blog asks a simple question: "What are you saving for?" Its goal is to help people set savings goals, develop a disciplined and/or systematic savings habit, and build a corresponding community of like-minded people as a support network. By laughing, crying, and discussing how we each approach this topic together, we should find it much easier to save together. So what are you saving for?
I know what you mean about people saying ‘Well, I’ve been with them so long.’ But it’s been costing them all those years! Besides that the personal attention a person receives when walking into your place is wonderful! You make my day when I walk in to make a transaction. Thanks for all you do! See ya soon.
