Here’s the update: well, I have my reasonable plan to save, but there have been some changes. First, we are going on a cruise instead of the Dominican Republic (we had the option). We are also going this November, instead of next year. So, the cost of the trip was minimized since we only have to get to Florida, but the time table we have to save has been shortened.

The good news is that I have enrolled the new student I need to go towards the trip savings, and they are starting in April. After reviewing my budget, I will be able to save over $1000 for the trip in 7 months. This will more than cover our expenses. In fact, just a little sidenote, but if you haven’t heard yet, Skybus is great! It is a new airline that has the sole purpose of providing cheap flights. My husband and I flew to New England in January for a total of $140, as opposed to the normal $500-$600! The service was great, all flights are non-stop, and we loved it. Okay, so after my plug for Skybus, the point is that we can get our tickets for as low as $40 if we act in a timely fashion. This will save us loads of money on airfare. All that is left is a hotel for a couple of nights (before the cruise leaves) with meals and a rental car, and any fun things we want to do.

So that is the plan! Everything is shaping up nicely, and I am excited about the trip. It will only be a week long, as opposed to two, but I still think it will be fun. Hopefully I will be able to stick to my savings plan!
